I've been busy and haven't blogged in a couple of months! Daniel and I have been traveling more than we'd planned to. It was not traveling for leisure, but for ministry. We would like to find a time to travel for leisure, but this most likely won't happen for a long while since I work on the weekends now and Daniel works during the weekdays and has training during the weeknights. We have no real quality time to spend together except for Saturday mornings. Hopefully, after Daniel's training is done, we can finally get some time together again. Abigail wakes up every morning and most of the time her first words are "Where's Daddy?" She misses him a lot when he's gone.
Well, it's finally summertime in Portland. The past two weeks we've had nothing but 80 degrees and sunshine! Yay! I've been told to enjoy this while it lasts, because rain season will come back by September and won't end until May or June! I'm not looking forward to it!
Anyways, I want to post about the best thing in Portland....BURGERVILLE!!!! They are SO good that they are getting a whole blog from me! I'm so glad that there is one right down the street from where we live. This is also where Daniel got his very first job. He would always tell me stories of his first job and now I get to go there all the time. I go there to study when I can't concentrate at home. I also go there just to eat if I'm craving a good burger and shake!
I LOVE Burgerville! It is ONLY located here in
Oregon. They have the best Hazelnut shake ever! The saddest day for
me was when we drove up to the drive thru to order one and the lady told
up that the season for that shake is over! They only serve it during a
certain season, so I have to wait a whole nother year to get me another
one! They taste SOOOO GOOD. THE best shake I've ever had. They're cheeseburgers are REALLY good too
because they have this special sauce they put in it. If you ever come to
Oregon, you HAVE to go to Burgerville!
Not only is the food good, but Burgerville is also really neat because pride themselves to be all for the environment. Their cups are all compostable and their straws are all made from recycled stuff. And they don't just have a garbage can, but you have to sort out your stuff to recycle and compost. I still get confused on what goes where even though the pictures are right on the signs above the bins. I need to take more time and study the signs next time. Burgerville even makes sure to let their customers know that they only use "cage free" eggs. Not only that, but they use "wind power" for electricity. They are totally green friendly! What other restaurant does that?! I don't know!!!
Here is a picture of the restaurant from the inside. I swiped this picture from somewhere online, that's why it says "wandering chopsticks". They have balloons there (which are also compostable) that you can just take home for free. I'm pretty sure they just do the balloon thing on Sundays. I always get one for Abigail when we are there.
Their receipts are awesome! Based on what you've ordered, it tells you the calories, etc, that you are eating! And they always include an interesting "Did You Know" fact, too.
And last but not least, the inside is dedicated to a 50s diner theme. Every Burgerville has a jukebox...that WORKS. You can just pick the song you want and play it! It's so cool. Burgerville is the best!
